About Our team

The Dork Side is an all-girls Robotics team located at Young Women’s Leadership Academy. The Dork Side was created during the 2017 - 2018 school year and our plan is to continue expanding and growing our team, and hopefully be able to branch off into a new second team for middle school.
As a robotics team, we are dedicated to ending the gender gap not only in the engineering field but also in all STEM-related fields by promoting and exposing young girls to STEM and Engineering at a young age. We hope to serve as an example to young girls by participating in STEM and showing them that they can do it too. We aim to inform them about this vast and ever-expanding field known as robotics. We constantly strive to follow after all of the FIRST core values of Gracious Professionalism and inspire not just our fellow team members but those around us to try their hardest and push themselves whenever a challenge presents itself.
